Hey - yes it is I - here to showcase some makeup with a quick chit-chat about the makeup police. Have you come across the makeup police? Admittedly, I've had several interactions without knowing a case file had been written against my name. "Too loud eyeshadow" is definitely in the notes, along with incorrect blending and less not forgot my blemishes showing through my foundation *underlines offence*.

... I've seen & heard it all when it comes to the make police's tactics ... Their backhanded compliments mixed in with well-meaning commentary is a sticky web that is hard to unfold. Now, whilst I could rant for a day or two about the makeup police's deplorable antics - I've decided to save those speeches for the birds (sorry pigeons). Instead, I intend to give some tips and tricks on how to avoid those awkward speeches and preaches from those who feel like and think they own your face.

Tips
- Don't dim your light for others.
- Take what you can work with and leave the rest.
- Understand that bitter comments are not about you and are a reflection of the person saying them.
- Continue to do what you're doing (improve on what you can) and soon the commenters will see that they can't control/intimidate and police you with their criticism.
- Remember that makeup can be fun - keep experimenting and finding joy in the small and big triumphs with makeup. Embrace your beauty, your style, and be gentle with yourself.
How to avoid awkward makeup speeches - Say thanks to any compliments of backhanded compliments and keep it moving. Some people don't like makeup, or don't like the fact you choose to wear it, or how it's been applied etc. Folk who have enough spare time to constantly criticise you are unhappy somewhere in their life. Keep experimenting and enjoying the wonderful medium of makeup - whether you know it or not - you could be inspiring even the makeup police to try some new things (I've seen it happen!)
Okay, that's it! I've had many encounters where compliments quickly turned into a makeup police's backhanded write up (they sneaky!). These occurrences have happened in real life and it took me a long time to see their ill intent. For me, makeup is a fun artistic medium where I can play with colour, shape and form daily and I'd encourage you to have fun and enjoy the journey!
